About

Who We Are

We call ourselves church of Christ because we strive to be the church that Jesus intended when it was established. We aim to be the New Testament church – nothing more or less. We believe the Bible to be our only source of authority (2 Timothy 3:16-17); therefore, we do not have a human creed or overarching governing body other than the Bible.

Our worship services are designed to equip, challenge, and inspire, wherever you are in your faith journey. We sing songs of praise. We pray, read the Bible, and listen to a sermon with application to our daily lives. We celebrate Communion every Sunday. Whether you’re wearing bermuda shorts or your best suit, we encourage you to join us.

What We Believe

  • We Believe that God is made known to us in 3 persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit. This God is both Creator and Sustainer. This God cares for and loves every one of us. When we fall short, we have the opportunity for forgiveness because God the Son—Jesus—died for us, taking our sin and freeing us from the consequence of sin. Not only did Jesus die for us, but he has been resurrected, providing each of us hope that we can live with God now through the new life He has promised. God has made a way for each of us to have a personal relationship with God.

  • We believe the Holy Bible to be the inspired, infallible, eternal Word of God and man's guidebook for living. This book contains the story of God’s people and teaches us to understand who God is. As we follow the story of God and His people, we learn that God desires a relationship with humanity. As we read from the Bible, we must understand that the teaching found there is intended for our instruction. That is why the Bible is the authority or standard for how to live according to God’s will—because through the pages of Scripture we find how to live justly and have a relationship with God.

  • The Church is not a building or one particular gathering of believers. The Church is all those who believe in God and belong to Jesus. We are the body of Jesus and a spiritual family. As the church, we regularly worship our head, Jesus. Not only that, but we also seek to love one another and maintain unity through our relationship with Jesus. When we live as a family and as the body of Christ, the world around us will recognize that we belong to Jesus. As we seek to do the will of God, we also seek to save and to love the world as Jesus did.

  • We believe baptism is the mode in which God offers His grace and forgiveness to His children.

Jesus instructed all believers to be baptized (Matt 28:19-20).

After arising, being baptized, and washing away his sins, Paul taught the Colossians that it was through baptism that our sins would be removed (Colossians 2:11-13).

What to Expect

  • One of the unique things about Jupiter-Tequesta is that the music is ‘a cappella’. As such, you won’t see any musical instruments used in the worship services.

This is how the early church worshipped and we believe it is God’s wish for us today. Ephesians 5:19 says, “Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord.”

We love the beauty and joy of worshiping God from our hearts and with our voices. We believe you will find the singing meaningful and uplifting, with everyone being invited to participate.

  • We believe that the New Testament shows that the church took communion on a weekly basis, on the first day of the week (Sunday) as a reminder of God’s great love shown through Jesus Christ and His sacrifice. (John 20:1; Acts 2:42-47; Acts 20:7)

Every Week during our worship service, we celebrate and remember our Lord Jesus with our brothers and sisters in a demonstration of love, unity, and commitment to our Savoir. (Matt. 26:17-30;Mark 14:12-26; Luke 22:7-20; 1 Cor. 11:23-26)

The unleavened bread symbolizes Jesus’ purity and physical suffering. The “fruit of the vine” symbolizes His shed blood upon the cross.

  • There are usually several prayers offered each service. These prayers may address specific needs of the sick and those in need or may simply request God’s blessings. This is commanded of us in 2 Timothy 2:1-2, which says, “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.”

  • Each service, a sermon is presented by our minister. All sermons are Bible-centered and designed to reach down to “where we live” and make practical application of God’s Word.

  • At the close of the sermon, the minister will invite to come forward those who present the desire to commit their lives to Christ or request prayer support.

This is an opportunity for members and visitors alike to present their needs to the congregation, request prayers, or put on Christ through baptism.
